IPSI (Ikatan Pencak Silat Indonesia) is a national organization that unites Pencak Silat school in Indonesia. IPSI was founded in Surakarta (Central Java) on May 18th, 1948 and is the oldest national Pencak Silat organization in the world. The fouding of IPSI was based on three main goals:
- To unify and develop all perguruans Pencak Silat in Indonesia.
- To perpetuate, develop and socialize Pencak Silat and its values
- To make Pencak Silat and its values a means of nation and character building
