Sheik Farhan Bin Sheik Alau’ddin is a three-time Pencak Silat world champion. He comes from a family of Silat practitioners, his father Sheik Alau’ddin was also a world champion and his five siblings are involved in Pencak Silat. Farhan won a junior Pencak Silat tournament at the age of seven years old. His journey to becoming a world champion was not easy however, and he had to put in quite a bit of effort to reach the highest levels of the sport. Although he was admitted into the Singapore Sports School as an athlete, he often lost his matches. When he turned 15, he began put more focus into winning, and eventually it paid off. He won gold at the SEA Games in 2017 in Tanding Class J (90kg to 95kg) event and three times at the World Pencak Silat championships. He also took home gold at the Asian Pencak Silat Championships in Yanji, China in 2019.
