Rendy began training Pencak Silat in Indonesia and continued training in under the tutelage of this brother Kak Wona Sumantri. For close to 30 years, he has been training in traditional Silat as well as competing in many martial arts tournaments including the 2016 World Pencak Silat Championship in Bali, Indonesia and 2018 Belgium Open, winning against tough competitors from around the globe. He continues to contribute to Pencak Silat by training with the US team and also teaching traditional Pencak Silat regularly at the Silat Martial Arts Academy in Rockville, MD.
