Mas Hadi Kuswoyo is a Pencak Silat instructor based out of Washington DC. He is a member of the well-known perguruan Merpatih Putih. He was born in Surabaya, Indonesia and began training Pencak Silat when he was 10 years old. After years of training and teaching the art of Pencak Silat Merpatih Putih in Indonesia, Netherlands, Egypt and Canada, Mas Hadi came to America in 1993 and performed a demo in Washington DC. At that time he did a breaking demonstration using several blocks of ice, river stones, metal files, etc as a demonstration of Pencak Silat internal power (tenaga salam) and vibration technique. Since then he lived in Chicago, Colorado, Los Angeles, New York, Texas, and continued to come back again to the Washington DC area.
Mas Hadi is passionate about promoting his school of Silat Merpatih Putih and Pencak Silat in general. “I want to train the next generation of Pencak Silat practitioners in the USA in cooperation with other people in America”, Mas Hadi said. “We work together for USA to host and our children are murid. I hope our students can become world champions of martial arts to develop Pencak Silat to be Great in America”.’
Mas Hadi is an authorized representative of Merpatih Putih International. He currently holds class in fitness exercises deep breathing energy therapy at the embassy of Indonesia, in Washington DC.
