Benny Rahardja is a Pencak Silat instructor and coach based out of New York. He is part of the Perguruan PGB Bangau Putih. His the grandson of Suhu Subur Rahardja, the founder of PGB Bangau Putih. He was born in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia and started studying Pencak Silat at the early age of 9.
When he was young he enjoyed the sport aspect of Pencak Silat. He competed in Jakarta and West Java. As he grew older, he inclined toward the traditional, soft style of PGB Bangau Putih called Sam Po Kun. He often quotes the words of his grandfather: “Silat is life, and life is Silat”.
He teaches Silat at Masjid Al Hikmah, New York and also in a studio in Astria, Queens. His students competed at the 1st ever USA Pencak Silat tournament in the Washington DC area, as well as the 2019 USA National Pencak Silat tournament in Colorado USA winning first place in multiple divisions.
