Amanda was the USA’s first international female tunggal (single form) competitor. From an early age, Amanda Pereira trained intensively in martial arts, starting with Tompkins Karate Association, under the tutelage of her father Alpha Pereira, an accomplished martial artist and coach. She continued her training in Indonesia where she studied under top coaches to perfect the Jurus Tunggal form. She competed in 3 World Pencak Silat championships and was a finalist in the 2018 World Championships in Singapore. In the US, she won first place trophies at the 2018 Eastern Regional Karate Championship and the 2018 US Capitol Classics tournament. She recently won a Silver medal at the US Open Pencak Silat tournament in Sterling, Virginia.
